JASON WU A/W15

Jason Wu has really come a long way since his early beginnings as a designer. Coming from feathers, leathers and lace, to chic furs and elegant trousers in his latest collection. Backstage he said "The collection is really about strength and sensuality. The idea was to create really womanly clothes that were sexy but strong at the same time." The clothes carried an attitude of elegance and style, with sophisticated tailoring, and feminine flair. Take a utilitarian jacket perhaps, added with a luxurious fur vest, and a high slit on the skirt. Or a minimalist khaki jumpsuit, added with a peplum waist to create a feminine look.

Wu certainly is growing as a young designer, playing and experimenting with his woman. He's definitely taken influence from Michelle Obama since the inauguration gowns. His aesthetic has evolved.  His latest collection boasts indulgence, streamlined silk, authentic leather and rich furs. There's also the elegance of Catherine Deneuve, the fur coats, tied together with a thin belt, long pantalons and absolute grace. Backstage he said "I think it's an evolution. I think it's very much the same woman, just a little more grown up."

  1. I loved this collection, it was super chic and stylish. You pretty much covered it all, I mean, it's so much more sophisticated and elevated than the girl he designed for before. It's so chic now
