OSCAR DE LA RENTA A/W15

In his backstage interview with Tim Blanks, Oscar de la Renta's handpicked successor, Peter Copping gave a rather poignant insight into the house. He originally had plans to work alongside Oscar, creating several seasons together but now he was left with only 3 months to create the Fall collection alone. Copping revealed that he leaned on thoseclose to the late designer, hearing stories about Oscar and how he'd work and draw inspirations for his collections. He looked at past archives and said "There were some very good reference material and I spoke to lots of people. I really wanted to hear stories about him, to just learn more about him."

The collection showed a deep feeling of solemn respect, with classic silhouettes and shapes which would've been approved by Oscar. The show opened with mature and sophisticated looks; elegant tailoring with modern designs. But there was also a youthful nature to the collection which was important to Copping.  Evening pieces were adorned with lace and in feminine pinks. The collection featured bodices and new necklines, grand ball gowns featured in tones of purple and golden yellow. Finally, the last look was a cocktail dress, with a bow-shaped neckline, featured in black with a golden yellow skirt which gracefully captured the new identity of the brand.
